My iPod is saying there is no Bytes left!?

So I turned my iPod on, and it said I had 0 bytes, but I only have like 7 small apps, some songs and no pictures nor videos. I'm really confused, it's the 8GB Gen. 4 iPod touch, does anyone know what's happened?
