Virus on computer with xp wiped out my malewarebytes last time this happened i was able to do a sys restore to?

One month before the date. reinstall malware bytes and remove the virus.. I lost some info but not much.. now I tried this again only this time it restarted to 2008!!!! Everything gone! I tried going to system tools and system restore again and it is telling me the only restore date is in 2008 I know I set at least 2 check point but now its all gone... please help!
